The Novelty Theatre opened April 2, 1910, in the Masonic Hall by proprietor Alfred Goetz.

The advertisement in the King City Rustler read: “Our new model machine produces perfect pictures, clear and flickerless, projecting animated scenes with absolute lifelike fidelity Handled strictly by a skilled operator”.

The Rustler reported the Novelty theatre would be closing on August 1, 1921, after being in competition with the Reel Joy Theatre.

The Novelty was the only house listed at King City in the 1914-1915 American Motion Picture Directory. The Reel Joy is the only King City house I’ve found mentioned in a trade journal, and that not until November, 1921.
