Alcazar Merida

Located on Calle 57, one of the streets surrounding the Plaza de la Mejorada (Parc de la Mejorada). The Cine Odeon was opened in 1920 with Juanita Hansen in “The Lost City”. In September 1925 it was renamed Teatro-Cine Alcazar. It was given an Art Deco makeover in 1937 and in August 1937 President Lazaro Cardenas visited Merida and gave a speech at the Teatro-Cine Alcazar. It was closed in 1980.

Currently only the facade remains. The auditorium was demolished and is now a parking lot.
