The Princess Theatre held its grand opening on December 25, 1919, according to a report a week later in the News-Journal of nearby Newcastle. The first show was “A Sagebrush Hamlet” starring William Desmond.

    1. McNeil ran the Princess Theatre when it opened. In 1925, then-manager H. R. “Harry” Erickson installed an electric “coming attractions” sign. He added sound equipment by 1930.

A News-Journal note in 1936 said that the Princess Theatre was getting some repair work done. Film Daily Year Book listed it with 230 seats through 1929, then with 140 through its final entry in 1933.
