On June 29, 1944, the Sierra Sun reported V.C. Shattuck was going to open a most unique theater in Zephyr Cove, Lake Tahoe.
Although the exact location of the theater in Zephyr Cove is unknown today, here is the Sierra Sun’s report: “Theater goers in the Zephyr Cove region of Lake Tahoe are going to have one of the most unique moving picture theaters in the state, when Manager V. C. Shattuck of the Tahoe Theater at Kings Beach and the Donner Theater at Truckee, inaugurates the new addition to his theater chain there. The theater will be open-air provision being made for 200 or more seats and a parking area for 250 cars. Patrons on chilly evenings may sit in their cars and see latest run shows. Another innovation will be the “fox-hole” projector. Instead of the customary overhead projection booth, Shattuck is installing an underground room, with the projection up instead of down on the screen”.
Film Daily Year Book 1946-1951 listed the theater under California, Lake Tahoe, Zephyr Cove.
An alternate address is 760 Highway 50.
