Empire Cinema

Located in Paray-le-Monial in the east of central France, Burgundy region. This town centre cinema originally opened as a single screen and in later years converted into a 7-screen cinema. It was closed on September 30, 2019. By May 2022 it had been converted into the Agora Espace conference centre.

The town and the Empire Cinema were locations for filming the French horror film “Last Screening” (Derniere Seance)(2011) which features a cinema manager who lives in the basement of the building and goes berserk killing people when he hears that his beloved cinema is going to be demolished.

A new 3-screen Empire Cinema was built as a replacement out of the town centre which opened in October 2019 (It has its own page on Cinema Treasures)
