The San Luis Theatre opened August 11, 1910, with D.W. Griffith’s “What the Daisy Said” starring Mary Pickford, which had a national release date of July 11.
The theatre was listed on Sanborn Maps at 876 Monterey Street, where Williams Sonoma is now located.
Other movie theatres reported in the San Luis Obispo Telegram were: The Pavilion Opera House at 1160 (now 1146) Monterey and the Columbia Theatre at 746 (now 742) Marsh, which opened October 7, 1907. The Star and Crescent Theatre opened June 14, 1907, at today’s 967 Osos Street. The Parlor Theatre, on Chorro Street, was mentioned in 1907.
