This theater was open by 1911. It was located in the eastern storefront of the Star Block, a two story brick commercial building constructed in 1883.
The theater remained in operation in 1914-15, as it is listed in the AMPD. The 1923 map has not been digitized, but this theater had closed by 1926 at the latest.
The building, which once had an elaborate cornice, suffered from hideous remodels in the postwar period. In 2010, the building looked very shabby and had ugly storefronts. As of 2024, it has been completely gutted for a rehab.

A graph-style timeline of businesses that have occupied quarters in the Star Block at the bottom of this web page shows the Cozy Theater operating into what appears to be 1922.
And indeed it looks like 1911 might be the opening date. Thanks for finding that!
