The Princess Theatre opened as early as 1922, and was renamed the Merwood Theatre in July 1929. It was renamed the Circle Theatre in 1931 and closed as a normal movie theater in early-1962. It later reopened that same year as a special events house that also screened movies in rare occasions but not first-run like beforehand.
