Located in Teignmouth, Devon. The Winter Garden was opened around 1932. By 1935 it was operating as the Carlton Cinema and was operated by A.R. Phern, who also operated the Lyceum Cinema in Teignmouth and the Scala Cinema in Dawlish (they both have their own pages on Cinema Treasures). The Carlton Cinema was equipped with a British Thomson-Houston (BTH) sound system.
The Carlton Cinema was taken over by Mayfair Circuit (Control) Ltd by 1944. It was listed as (Closed) in 1953 following damage from a fire.
It was subsequently demolished.
