Located in Graceville, an outer southwest suburb of Brisbane. Originally located on this site was the Graceville Picture Gardens, an open air cinema which first opened in 1922.
In the 1930’s an indoor cinema was built and opened as the 500-seat Graceville Cinema. By 1946 it was operated by Liberty Theatres (Brisbane) Property Ltd. By 1950 it was operated by Burrington Theatres Property Ltd.
In 1953 it was renamed Regal Cinema to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth of England & the British Commonwealth. By 1956 it was independently operated by W.D. Lenehan. By 1959 the seating capacity had been increased to 730-seats.
By the late-1960’s it had been taken over by the Roobottom family and began screening art house films. It has been twinned and is operated by Five Star Cinemas as an art house cinema.
