This small movie house opened in 1914 by Edward Schell, who named it for himself. It was located in what is today the Chinatown neighborhood on S. Wentworth Avenue. The theatre was renamed the Rita Theatre in 1940 and continued to operate under this name until it closed in 1951. The theatre reopened in 1952 as the Chinese-language Sun Sing Theatre, which was in operation until 1962.
