In April 1953, Boxoffice magazine reported that the Silverton Drive-In would open later that month. It was owned by Larry Heer, who owned a local truck line, and Jim Anderson of the Mount Angel Theatre.

The 1956 Motion Picture Almanac included the Silverton Drive-In, 350 cars, owned by J. L. Anderson and L. P. Heer.

A 1953 aerial photo showed a drive-in just west of town south of Railroad Street. Its screen appears to have been taken down by 1970.

Storage units currently populate the old drive-in site.

The Silverton Drive-In’s original name is called Silverton Motor-Vu Drive-In, most likely opened on June 25, 1953.
