Carl E. Vincent Jr. of Delano filed plans in the spring of 1948 to build the Joy Theatre in Earlimart. A 1953 note in Boxoffice told of his volunteering the Joy Theatre for community activies such as a Lions Club benefit.
The theatre was remodeled in 1956 and was still active in 1979, according to the Earlimart Facebook group.

The theater, located at 114 N. Front Street, is still there and is now a furniture store.
