This theater was the second location of E.O. Briles' operation, which began a block south in 1932 as the Lyric Theatre (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures). He opened here in 1944, in an old three-story stone and brick commercial building constructed before 1884.
This theater operated until 1951. After closure, the building was remodeled into a shoe store. Curiously, although the upper facade of what is now a two story building appears to date from the 1920’s, the 1946 map still shows the building as three stories.
The building today has a very ugly storefront, and is used by an accounting firm. Curiously, the older location of the theater has the same use.
