The Grand Theatre was Josiah Pearce & Sons' third movie venue in downtown New Orleans. The syndicate had opened the Theatorium soon turned Electric Theatre on December 21, 1905 to success. It was followed by the Dreamland Theatre, Grand Theatre, Bijou Dream Theatre, Trianon Theatre and new-build Tudor Theatre. Pearce’s Grand Theater opened in late-Fall of 1907 in a converted retail location.
The Grand Theatre discontinued listings in 1917 - which would time out with the end of a 10-year leasing agreement. It was damaged by fire in 1918 and reported at the rear of the Grand Theater - which was likely vacant. And the building was soon repaired and converted to a retailer named Para Rubber Co. in June of 1918. The building was demolished and replaced by a large, moderne multi-purpose retail structure around 1954 which also was demolished 60 years later in 2014.
