This theater was open by April, 1912, when it appears on the Sanborn map. It was located in an old stone building with a brick front. This was initially constructed between 1884 and 1886 as a hardware store, but the 1905 map shows a restaurant here, and that the one story rear section had been extended, making it a good candidate for an early conversion.
Despite remaining open on the 1920 map, the theater is not listed in the 1914-15 AMPD. It was open through at least 1929. It does not appear in the 1930 Yearbook, and is listed as closed for a few years afterward.
The current facade, though marred by an awful dryvit remodel, appears to date from a 1920’s remodel. The pent tile sections on the roof have thankfully not been destroyed. The building today is the Cowley County Attorney’s office.
