Interstate’s original Majestic Theatre opened on October 30, 1905 presenting vaudeville. By 1907 the last act on the bill was Edison’s Kinetograph which was billed as the “Majestograph”. It was destroyed by fire on December 12, 1917.
The operation moved to the Dallas Opera House which was renamed the Majestic Theatre (#2) while the current Majestic Theatre (#3) was built and completed and opened on April 11, 1921. (The Dallas Opera House/Majestic #2 was then called the Capitol Theatre and it burned down in 1921. It has its own page on Cinema Treasures.)
