In 1924 alterations were carried out to the plans of architect C.G. Lischka and the seating capacity was 810-seats. During World War II it was damaged by Allied bombs in 1942 and again in 1943 when architect Wilhelm Kratz was brought in to supevise restorations. At that time the cinema was operating with only 249-seats. In 1947 it was operating with 900-seats and in 1952 architect Erich Birkholz made plans for a restoration and it was renamed Filmbuhne Hansa. It was closed as a cinema in 1963.

It became a live theatre named Hansa-Theater. This continued into the 2000’s. The building has undergone further restorations.
