There’s not a lot of information about this theatre other than it was operated by the husband-and-wife team of Mr. and Mrs. Josh Wimberly. The theater opened as the New Jeffersonville Theatre around 1942, replacing an earlier theater which burned that January. It was renamed the Twiggs Theatre in 1946.

On February 23, 1948, a total of 35 patrons escaped injury after a projection fire damaged the theatre. The fire happened during an unidentified movie, which I cannot find the title. The Twiggs Theatre was back in action by 1950.

This opened as the New Jeffersonville Theatre, and was the replacement of the Dixie Theatre that opened in November 1940 by manager Edgar David Strange and burned down in January 1942. The New Jeffersonville Theatre was renamed the Twiggs Theatre in July 1946 after Floyd K. Horton took over as manager.
