Morelock's Drive-In

The Morelock’s Drive-In opened its gates on May 2, 1950 with Cary Grant in “I Was A Male War Bride” along with a few unnamed shorts. It was constructed by the Western Theater and Equipment Company of Portland and housed a total of 386 cars.

As of 1950, the Moreland’s Drive-In originally features installations of a 60ft wide screen tower made out of 105 sheets of 44x8 marine plywood that was powerful enough to handle 100 MPH wind gusts, a 50x35ft screen, 5,000 watts of flood lighting on top of the screen tower, Century projection with carbon arcs that produces 18,000 lumens of light, Western Electric sound, 250-watt amplifier speakers, and a 32x42ft concreted fireproof concession stand and projection booth.

The Moreland’s Drive-In was still operating into the 1980’s, but was already closed by the mid-1990’s. The entire theater was wiped during the early-2000s to make way for multiple houses.
