The Crescent Theatre was the first movie theatre to open in the downtown part of Gander in 1957, and closed in 1972 when Famous Players opened their Fraser Mall Cinema nearby.
Gander also had the Globe Theatre that opened in 1941 but was operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force and located on property of the Canadian Forces Base Gander (CFB Gander). The Globe Theatre there closed during the late-1960’s.
