Information is spotty. The origin as the Lafayette Movie Theatre came from AI. The rest from comments on Facebook. There was a 160-seat Mayo Theatre listed in the 1941-1943 editions of Film Daily Yearbook. Only the 210-seat Capitol Theatre was listed in 1950.
Richard Charles Byrd believed to be the original owner and operator.
The Mayo Theatre had a balcony. Mention of people seeing Elvis Presley in “Blue Hawaii” so it made it into the 1960’s.
