My grandparents owned a rooming house directly across the street from the Crescent. From 1961 until about 1965, I would frequent the theater nightly. Mr and Mrs. Pope of Belzoni were the owners during this time. It would be possible that they leased the property from the Colliers. A childs admission was 10 cents. Same as a black adult. White adults paid 15 cents.
In 1963, the Crescent Theater was operated by the Collier-Jackson chain, headquartered in Cleveland, MS. President was C.J. Collier and vice president was B.F. Jackson. Interestingly enough, Collier-Jackson ran the Booker T theater in Cleveland at the time. I was just commenting on a few Booker T theaters on another page.
