The Carver Theatre launched February 9, 1948 with “Intrigue” By Maurice Rosenberg’s Amusements, Inc. It was known for its modern art mural depicting Carver’s life.

Out of curiosity, I went inside the building this past Sunday. All of the interior decor has been removed from the auditorium — just fluorescent lighting and cinder block walls now. The congregation of the church was very gracious and welcoming.

The Kings Palace Theatre open as the Carver Theatre at 1120 Queen Street and it seated 684 people.
