Originally opened in 1932 but recently remodeled, this small movie house located a bit outside the heart of the city in the district of Zizkov. It shows an eclectic variety of films, from current Czech hits, foreign films (in their original languages), sci-fi festivals, Monty Python nights, and more.
The building is located in a central courtyard, surrounded by apartment blocks and only has a small street sign over the entrance to give its street presence. It has a licenced bar selling beers.

Exterior, bar, projection booth and auditorium photographs from February 2014.
This cinema was initially one of three in Prague owned and operated by an association of pilots. All had appropriate names: Aero (“Aeroplane”), Pilotu (“Pilot”) and Vzlet (“Take off”). Nowadays, the Aero is associated with Kino OKO and Kino Svetozor. During a visit to the city in June 2017 I saw “Trainspotting 2”, starring Ewan McGregor and Ewen Bremner (in English, with Czech subtitles) at this lovely cinema.
