Sidney Poitier returned to the theaters with “Fast Forward,” his eighth directed film. The movie opened in February at Northland Mall and Town & Country Cinemas. Conclusion: At 61 years old, Poitier, in 1988, returned to acting in the top-billed “Shoot to Kill” and “Little Nikita.” In 1990, Poitier directed his last and ninth film, “Ghost Dad.” His last theatrical films were supporting roles in “Sneakers” (1992) and “The Jackal” (1997). Between 1991 and 2001, Sidney Poitier acted in eight television movies. In total, Poitier acted in 42 theatrical movies. In his peak movie period, from October 1965 to February 1970, a total of 53 months, a Sidney Poitier movie ran in a Columbus area theater for a total of 45 months, or 85 percent in that time period.
