Margareth Theater

The Brooklyn Eagle describes this theater as “newly opened” in the Sunday November 26, 1914 edition of this newspaper. It was described as located at Beverly Road and Gravesend Avenue in Brooklyn. This intersection is actually a three way one with Beverly Road originating here as a branch off Church Avenue and running east just after Chuch Avenue crosses Gravesend (now known as McDonald Avenue).

It was well served by public transportation with Gravesend and Church Avenues (Routes 8 and 13) trolleys running by the door and Culver Line ‘L’ only a few blocks away. The description would seem to place it across Church Avenue from the location of the later Beverly Theater which is listed on this site.

It was advertised as a Herzberg and Smith house. The theater probably closed after opening of the newer Beverly Theater.
