it appears on the Anson-Jones Museum Website that the Palace hosted a movie night for the community on April 20, 2024, with two photographs. Vance Boyd, a local cattle rancher and candidate for the US Congress and his son have been in the news regarding their acquisition of the theater and the hard work they have been putting in to restore it. https://www.facebook.com/ansonjonesmuseum

@DavidZornig, the Palace Theater does not have a facebook page, the activities of the theater are on the Anson-Jones Museum page. Tried to edit comment but couldn’t so I deleted it.

Not finding a Facebook page specific to the Anson Theater. Just the Anson-Jones Museum which seems to promote them. Do you have a link to the theater’s Facebook page?

The ticket kios is sitting inside the lobby. Doors are unlocked and sometime standing open from the wind. Inside is gutted.

Interesting photo with the black night sky, the brightly lighted new marquee and the boarded up door…next door somewhere in Texas!

A fine restoration job was done on the marquee, but to remove the ticket kios was a major blunder, imo.

Now see the restored marquee, but no restored ticket kios thanks to Lost Memory’s posted photo of December 28, 2007.

On the Don Lewis post of 4/8/09 Seth Gaines mentions beneath a photo that the marquee has been restored, but the ticket kios was destroyed!?!

This theatre seen in the 1984 photo was once a cute theatre with ticket kios, vertical marquee and what appears to be a vitrolite exterior. What’s the latest on this one?

If you compare the photo posted on ¼/05 with this photo, there does appear to be some renovation going on:

This theater received a grant from the Texas Historical Commission for $15,000.00, I beleive, to replace the roof. Is the ticket booth not hidden behind the french doors?
