The Mall Cinema opened its doors in 1968, and was taken over by General Cinema in November 1972, who twinned the theater that same month becoming the Mall Twin. General Cinema ran away from Monticello during the early-1980s, which was then taken over by Florin-Creative. Both auditoriums were divided into a quad in August 1987, and the theater became the Mall Quad. It was closed on April 5, 2009.

bornfromporn- that theater, Monteco Twin Cinema was a seperate theater of exit 106 in Monticello. It started out as a Jerry Lewis Theater and later became a theater showing first run mainstream and foreign films on one side and first run porn from NYC on the other side. This shopping center is now abandoned-last known as the Apollo Outlet Mall. The theater closed in 1986.

I just saw a triple xxx feature from VCX productions, called “The taking of Christina”. The film features a scene in which the pro-tagonist Christina is kidnapped a week from her wedding by two thugs, which then proceed to take her virginity. In that scene is a theatre with the name Monteco Cinema in the background.

This theater opened around 1968/1969 as a single screen theater. General Cinema took it over and twined it in November of 1972 with “Dumbo” / “You’ll Like My Mother”. It was cut up into four screens in 1988, and later when the shopping center was remodled, a new front was added and it was connected onto the shopping center, on rt.42 The better looking and nicer theater in Monticello was the Jerry Lewis Twin, later called the Monteco Mall Twin, this was off of Rt. 17 Twin one showed mainstream and foreign films in the 70’s and twin 2 showed porn-some of the better stuff-Gerrard Damiano and hits straight out of N.Y.C. It closed in 1986.

This theatre is still open—as the Mall Quad in Monticello. It was originally opened and operated by General Cinema.
