The Gale Theater was opened in 1950 and became the hub of downtown Galesville. The theater closed a number of years ago and now houses the Galesville Public Library.

The address is 16787 Main Street.
It looks like the remodel was done in the late 1980s:
GALESVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
Galesville, Wisconsin A phased adaptive reuse of a former movie theater was completed in the Spring of 1988. Remodeling of 4,600 SF at a cost of $172,000
The status should be closed. It’s still the library.
Not to be repetitive, but the currrent function is the same as above.
Here is an ad that was Boxoffice magazine in September 1963:
Beautiful Theater built in 1950. A-1 condition, 426 seats, only theater in area of four towns and surrounding community. Reason for selling: recently widowed and in poor health. Anne Johnson, Galesville, Wis. 275R
Galesville was director/writer Nicholas Ray’s home town. He probably got some of his interest in films by attending this theater, I would imagine.
Seating for the Gale Theatre was 422.
