We used to run the playtime theatre in Jax Florida. Also worked for numerous theatres in the area and am projectionist/maiteance tech. Playtime was sold to a church on May 31 2008 and drive in was closed. Church doesnt have the money, building is old run down and in need of repair. We really want to start another drive in here in Jacksonville Florida. If interested email us, we have all the equipment needed to restart.

There is a old theatre built in 1880 that I know of. 1300 seats approx. On a major roadway in Gloucester County NJ. Has a ton of potential. Town wants someone to do something with the building and restore it back to its former glory. If not I am afraid they will knock it down. It needs some work. Being in the entertainment business myself. I would love to help you out in anyway possible. If you would like more information I can email it to you.

They have an internet site www.msmj.org I am going to check that out as soon as I submit this. Thanks for trying. Once again, just call me determined!!!!!

Hi CyNdi, I had emailed you two pictures of the Joy Theatre in Mt. Joy, Pa. It has been closed since the late 1960’s, but the building has been maintained. Mt. Joy, Pa. is located in Lancaster County midway between Lancaster and Harrisburg. I know a while ago I was talking to Stacy Rutherford in the Main Street Mount Joy office and they were really willing to work with anyone to get the theatre reopened. Her email address is Also the Marietta Theatre in Marietta, Pa. which is about 10 miles West of Mt. Joy is currently being restored by the local Marietta Restoration association. I know the last time I had read about the progress they were looking for someone to take over the theatre when the work was done. I can send you more pictures of the Joy Theatre. I would really like to see either one of these two theatres reopened. Both theatres are listed on this website. The Joy Theatre has two businesses in the building and I believe seven apartments on the 2nd floor. The real estate office is located in what was the theatre lobby and foyer. As I said I can send additional pictures.
Call me determined!!!!! Thanks

Hi CyNdi, local directory has the number for the 500 seater as 732-548-0582. I did not try it, and seeing I just got home from work, I will research this further in the morning.

Hi! I e-mailed you, but want to make sure you received it. I am a historic preservationist who is spearheading an effort to save the 1916 Ridgewood Theatre in NY by America’s foremost Thomas Lamb. It is a represenation of the long-demolished first American movie palace, Times Square’s Strand Theatre. Until the Ridgewood Theatre’s closing in March, it was the longest continuously operating theater in NY, and potentially countrywide. It is for lease or for sale, according to latest accounts. Please let me know if the following would be of interest to you, or if a colleague of yours may be interested: www.myspace.com/ridgewoodtheatre & View link You can reach me at Thank you!

Hey CyNdI, in addition to that 2800 seat beauty I told you about in Elizabeth N.J., about 25 miles south of there is a 500 seater in Metuchen N.J. that also sits unused. I really hope something happens with one or both. I worked in both many years ago, and live locally to both, and willing to help get em up and running again.
