Wow it was $7.00 at one time. Also, how can they know if someone is bringing in food.

They apparently charge $20 for a “food permit” if you bring in outside food, which I kind of understand since these places literally only make money from concessions but $20 seems kind of steep.

Do they still have that ridiculous food service charge> Why would i pay for a food surcharge and a ticket. Now if they give you something at the concession for the $7.00 that’s a different story. Mark P The Amboy multiplex was a drive in in the 70’s

Delsea Drive Inn Theater is open for the 2022. Right now the film schedule only lists (weekends) for May. See their website as you have to buy tickets in advance and those types of things ,

Now that they are becoming popular again, I would love to see someone tear down the old Amboys Multiplex in Sayreville and put up a 3 screen drive in. 2 screens by the river and one near the old circle. It was an old drive in before becoming the multiplex. Great location and no homes around. Strike while the iron is hot.

hdtv267, oh I never intended to imply you set the policies. I know you just passing on info. I just think this entire thing is way overblown. I am a stagehand, and I may not get back to work till next year. Even the 35MM movies I run may not restart till the fall. Im with you. I wish things would open quickly.

Markp: I agree. Parking standards (that have been around for years) dictate parking spaces to be 9 feet wide by 18 feet long. And Walmarts have fully open/unrestricted restrooms.Drive-ins should be allowed to operate normally and at full capacity.

hdtv267, I think this whole virus thing is being taken too far. Between the mask thing and cars parked 6 feet apart, and only so may people in the restroom at a time, its ridiculous. Just my opinion.

This opened on April 29th, 1949. Its grand opening ad can be found in the photo section for this drive-in.

Considering how few Drive-Ins there are left, the owner appears to hold the cards.
I will say, though, that the rule has never been enforced when I have gone.

Recieved an e mail from this drive in. Interesting how they say to have rear hatches and trunks open and interior lights on upon approach to boxoffice. They say no outside food or drink allowed and I guess they really enforce it. I think some people would be put off by this. Just saying.

The Delsea has added a second screen in 2008.

I saw Red eye and the 40 Year Old Virgin there a few years back. My wife and I had a great time. All in all, it was a cheap date night. Good sound through the car speakers. Pretty big crowd on a beautiful evening. Glad to see it’s back. The long lines between features at the women’s bathroom brought back memories. I also liked the old advertisments and 3 Stooges shorts.

Saw The Simpsons Movie and 1408 this summer – my first drive-in experience! Nice big screen and all, and I like that the sound comes through the car stereo, but every loud noise from the movie caused the sound to shift into mono for a bit.

Anyway, both movies were 2.35 widescreen which filled the screen exactly…I think seeing 1.85 movies would be distracting with the blank space at each side…
