You people are so lucky to be having a reunion! I’m Mike’s theatre buddy from Tampa who worked in the business for all of 6 months (at a drive-in) and I also did some volunteer work at the Tampa Theatre years ago. Mike loved National Hills and I know exactly how he feels since I have the same feelings for the Ritz and the Palace down here. But I’ve never been aware of any theatre reunions in this area. I loved reading all your posts above and I know you guys and gals will be exchanging lots of stories of fun times and not-so-fun times. If I didn’t live so far I think I’d be crashing your reunion! Mike: you’ll have to let me know all about it. Have fun!

Yep, same marquee, but while the rest of the assistants here were glad to get off marquee duty once the moved up to management, this old theatre Dawg wasn’t letting some rookie mess up his marquees. I only wish i had taken more pictures.

You must of had a marquee like our LOEWS MADISON had one on the theatre itself and another 2-sided one at the front of the shopping center near Gallatin Road. The thetare was behind the Madison Square shopping center and could not be seen from the main road.Luckly I never had to change the marquee therebecause I was in Managemant before I ever worked this house. The LOEWS MELROSE had 4-sigh boards to change with heavy metal letters.Have fun at the reunion.

We never had any neon that I can remember at the Imperial. Accidents happen. I was changing the Marquee on the road at National Hills when i moved the adjustable metal ladder, the thing came apart and i am stuck on top of the road marquee until help comes feeling like a dang idiot!

Alright Mike just left a post in the Imperial site for you,by the way I just remembered I broke some of the neon tubing with the ladder when changing the marquee at the LOEWS CRESCENT when I was still in High School thought I was in trouble but they just got it fixed the next day never heard a word about it.

Iam going to experience That saturday night at Robin’s NATIONAL HILLS THEATRE REUNION. I will down a cold one in your Honor and anyone else who has changed a marquee in a cold rain. When i saw National Hills close i wrote a Letter to the Editor and it was published,so i got to thinking especially after our 1985-86 reunions i had bunch of great stories on tape and just started forming a book. I hope you will get on done on dics or paper, TLSLOEWS!!

Yes I have Mike but who would read it besides me and you and maybe a few more old theatre dogs.I have thought about making a book of photos of theatres just for myself need a new printer first,I had downloaded hundreds of pictures of LOEWS and others like the IMPERIAL but my P.C. crashed and I lost everything.I have learned how to put them on disc now so that I will not loose them if my computer crashes again and can show them on someone elses P.C.Of course I can always look on C.T. but it was easy to see them when I had them saved. We should get together sometime and have a few cold ones and talk about the old days.Type to you later.

Tisloews, Have you ever thought about printing a book on your theatre days in Nashville? I did most of it on a computer and printed sheet after sheet of stories. Got a nice binder from Office Max and it really looks good. I need to work up one on COLUMBIA 1 and 2,since Bill Barkley made one on the IMPERIAL,that would cover the history of all the ABC/Plitt Theatres.

Mike…I got the pictures today. Where did you get the one of National Hills opening night? I laughed so hard at those uniforms…and we thought the tacky vests were bad! It is a great picture though. Anyway, I need to know how you want me to post them. Do you want me to add them to my slideshow on that site? Will you be able to link to them? Let me know. BTW…how are you at movie trivia? I think I’m going to be sorry I asked. LOL

Geez,we never had name tags when i was at Plitt or General Cinema. I got enough of “MR.ROGERS” at GCC. Wish Fred Rogers of the Neighorhood would have went by something else. I can take a toast for the gang. I told you this CT was habit forming .You stay on it for awhile and you will meet some great old theatre people like i have.
You are going to have together with “THE GIRLS” and start putting Stories down. You see what i was able to with our three theatres. I expect it from you guys..

I’m going to tell a little story here so you will know exactly who Diane is. She was a real people person, so much so that Mr. A chose her to dress up as a clown for our summer kid shows. This earned her the nickname “Plitto the Clown”. Well one thing led to another and Plitto started to sing…the only problem was Diane couldn’t sing. She kept us laughing with her awful singing and finally told us that she was having a concert at the theatre…and she did. Funniest thing ever! Well, a few months later she decided to have a bigger and better concert. I’m talking formal dresses, a stage , and even her name on the marquee to announce her show. (Yes, I have pictures to prove it) I’ve never seen Bobby Worley change a marquee so fast! Good times!

well…Kim and I settled down and became moms and stuff, but Cathy has always been the party girl! We love her though…might have to join her just a little for old times sake…LOL BTW…I just found my Plitt name tag! It’s my last one that says Mrs. Mitcham…didn’t get much use out of that one! hahaha I think I still have my old one somewhere.
