Yeah. I am not sure why Regal would do one thing in one place and not be uniformed.

Mike, you are referring to a theater in your home state rather than K of P?

I am not sure Howard if they used masking in all the theaters when the Regal here opened in Nov 2008. I want to say they did, but I know they definitely stopped when they went digital in 2012.

Masking is not used in the RPX (a remodel, set to flat), and I haven’t been in the Imax, but masking is used in the other auditoriums here, thankfully. I’m not purchasing a ticket anywhere if masking isn’t used for my screening.

So I am curious do all the screens in this complex have masking? The Regal here doesn’t. Only 5 of the 15 screens do and only the ones that the masking opens horizontal. The other theaters do not have the vertical masking which I think is ridiculous.

Greetings from Center City. I just wanted to let everyone know that the IMAX 70 presentation of Dunkirk was stunning. The staff at the UA KoP did a great job. My opening weekend, Sunday morning screening had perfect sound and only a few dust bunnies. I asked if they knew anything about presenting Murder On The Orient Express in 70mm but neither the weekday nor weekend manager was aware of it. It was worth the premium ticket price and drive from south Jersey.

Thanks for the heads-up re the road work…the seats in the IMAX are reserved so I don’t have to get there too early, but I’ll give myself a little more cushion time-wise just in case.
Hopefully the seats I chose are good; it’s a little tricky with a theater I have never been to. I went middle row, middle seats which is generally a good spot just about anywhere.

They are doing road work near the mall so be aware of that, cinedelphia.

Just bought tickets to see Dunkirk in IMAX 70mm at KOP. It will be my first time at this theater. My only other experience with IMAX 70 was at the BFI IMAX in London which has a huge 85'x 65' screen. The scenes filmed in IMAX 70 were stunning. From what I have read, 100 minutes of Dunkirk was filmed with IMAX 70 cameras so it should be quite the visual experience. I read that IMAX screen at KOP is 74'x54'. It’s no BFI but it should still be pretty awesome.

Dunkirk will be playing in Imax 70mm at this theater per various sources.

That reminds me of AMC which added bars to many of its locations – even without their Dine-In concept they introduced fairly recently (as in more than 8 years ago). Some new Cinemark locations also have bars.

When I was there Sunday, a LCB (Liquor Control Board) notice was on the front door. An employee replied to me that yes, a bar will be installed.

Never have been to this theater. But if the IMAX still has the 15/70 projector and the 1.45 to 1 screen this would definitly be the place to see Dunkirk in June.

Large format film fans should note that a 70mm projector was installed for the Hateful Eight Roadshow. Does anyone know if the projector is still there?

The RPX Theatre at King of Prussia is directly across from House #13

While they are projecting IMAX digitally, they still have a 15/70 projector. They will be using it for Interstellar.

Saw “Carrie” in new RPX screen last night. Very disappointed: Uncomfortable “leather” seats jammed too close together and no top/bottom masking for wide screen presentation, which is/was way more distracting than the lack of masking for IMAX presentations (i.e. “Gravity”, which was outstanding in IMAX 3-D at this location). And I did not see any speakers in the ceiling which means they did not install Dolby Atmos, which seems very short-sighted given the upcoming holiday films released in Atmos. Has anyone else been disappointed by RPX presentations in the past, especially given the surcharge added by Regal?

United Artists King of Prussia Stadium 16 is the only Philadelphia cinema to advertise the $50 Mega Ticket for World War Z, June 19 at 7:30 PM in 3 D preview screening that includes a HD digital copy (when available to download), a pair to keep of 3D glasses, a limited edition poster, and a small popcorn.

Last night the audience hadn’t expected Brad Pitt would appear in person at a screening of World War Z but there he was http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2013/06/06/brad-pitt-makes-surprise-appearance-at-king-of-prussia-movie-theater/

Actually, scope films are letterboxed on IMAX.

My friend and I saw the IMAX version of Transformers. The film appeared cropped as the tops and bottoms were blank. Other than the screen’s enormous size, it really wasn’t more of an experience than when I saw it at the my favorite Annapolis Mall grand theater in THX.
