The Miles shore store was a block East from the Crotona. There were three shoe stores from Washington Avenue to Third Avenue on the North side of East Tremont Avenue. This one was a few stores from Woolworth’s which was on Tremont and Washington and two others between Bathgate and Third Avenue, of course my memory is a bit foggy but I lived there from 1957 to 1962.

I was doing some research on the Crossbay, for a FACEBOOK GROUP called Place in New York City and Long Island that used to be, when I also came the link in NYPL. The details on the above link says it used to be the Crossroads theatre, could that correct?
I went there as a youngster and after the Kinema and Cityline closed. Took my kids there, I remeber there was a “service station” where Dunkin Donuts is today, imagine I am as old as Dunkin Donuts. Thanks for the site and memories.
I did go there a few times but the most memorable time was to see the Fania release of “Our Latin Thing” in the early 1970s. I did work above the Premier in the Neighborhood Youth Corps at 505 Sutter Ave and also volunteer there. It was a program under Council Against Poverty under the guidelines of the Community Development Corporation. I also was Chairman of the Youth Advisory Council. Mr. Mario Perez was the Adult advisor. Ednydia Irrizary was the Secreatary. Mr Fletcher and Mrs Odoms were coordinators and I think Mr. Bowman was the Director. We would walk there from Essex Street. ENY Model Cities was on Hinsdale Street near Belmont Avenue. My friend David Riquelme’s father worked there.
I went to the “City Line” in the 60’s and 70’s and remember it as the City Line it is amazing that it had two names. I remember taking the “12” bus to get to it. I also remember the pizza shop across the street. It’s a clothing store as I write it. It was a small place. View link
I remember going there while my friend David’s mother went to the Bingo on Atlantic Avenue and Crescent. We then took the Atlantic Avenue Bus.
Raym-Do you remember Kaye’s discount store on Essex and Pitkin, the Men’s Store, Italian Deli and Dry Cleaners on the same store? How about the Brower family. We also went to the City Line on Liberty Avenue? http://myspace.com/berriman64

Well Gary I also went there to see the Raven. I once was accused of throwing bottles on the screen during a film. It was scary the picture froze and it began burn. Many began to scream and some did curse and threw things. Lucky for me the beat cop was there when they called the police and he walked my friend and me out and told us not to go there for a couple of weeks. Moe’s was next to the housegoods store on Pitkin Avenue. They also had some great franks. Yummy fries A OK!!! I also went to the Premier on Sutter Avenue. I graduated in 1965 from Berriman JHS. I have a page of memories of JHS on MySpace it is Berriman64. I don’t remember what happen to Moe but I will ask my friends Michael and Kevin Brower and post it.
