Melders, more than you!!

I don’t think they count ACTUAL posts in their calculations, I think it is # of paragraphs.

Duper quotes “You know the plan.RSC is the developer”
RSC is NOT the developer!!! That’s the problem with you ‘friends’. You are sticking with that (failed) plan. That plan was NEVER approved. The TIF was NEVER passed. The variances were NEVER granted (or requested of..for that matter)…etc.

“It’s my way or the highway”

RobertR I couldn’t agree with you any more. (“used all this energy to raise funds”)

What RSC plan are we talking about? Is there another one out there? because the last one resulted is a vote for demolition. That plan was from March and it’s almost November.

Quit talking as if that plan was approved, which it was NOT. Time to move on.

What’s not “taxpayer intervention” with this RSC plan?

Better yet why don’t you tell us how much money in private donations you have left?

How much from duper? Meldres? RobertR? and the rest of the arm-chair preservationists.

If you had even a shred of credibility left you lost it in one sentence.

“without taxpayer intervention this project was going nowhere”

Here’s an article from today’s Daily Herald related to this theatre

Duper

It’s not “You no NOTHING” it’s “You know nothing”.

It’s not “embarass” it’s “embarrass”.

RobertR quotes “being able to sit back in a big single screen theatre and enjoy a great film”.
FYI
The dupage is not going to be a “single screen theatre”. The plan is (was) to turn it into a performing art center.

Melders…Multiple extensions were granted by the Board. Plus the Village has spent over $500,000 to date on the place. The $900,000 was theirs for the taking if they would have met the financial obligations. They missed each deadline and every time were granted extensions, except the last time. At what point do you think “enough is enough”?

All the Board did was minimize the Village and the taxpayer’s risk by making them meet their financial goals. Goals that were promised to have been met time and time again.

To say there was NO SUPPORT by the Board is misleading. Your quote “Had they been given all that money…” is equal to “build it and they will come.”

Melders stated (in pertinent part) “They only thing that is certain is that you must have the city government’s support…you have a group that wants to save the theater, but the council is set against saving it.”

I would like to clarify your statement. First of all, the Village earmarked $1 million for the project, of which over $100,000 was spent. In October 2001 the Trustees voted to give $30,000 for a lobbyist to help acquire funds. In January 2002 the Trustees voted unanimously to grant an extension to the Ad-Hoc Committee. The Ad-Hoc Committee originally had until December 2001 to collect $6 million and they barely had $60,000. The Ad-Hoc Committee was given another extension until September 2002, and they made very little progress. Another $20,000(?) was spent for a grant writer, which was approved by the Board.

Also, during the June 2005 vote for demolition two trustees were against it. So your comment that it did not have government support is misleading and incorrect.

“POST AROUND THEM”

DuPagefiends
DuPagefiends commented about DuPage Theater on Oct 19, 2005 at 7:03 am

Deb Dynako posted this above:

“Am I wasting my time here? Isn’t there somewhere else you boys can play while I try to find answers to the questions that concern me?”

Deb…sorry I gave you a short answer, but I didn’t have time to give a long one. Plus a couple other “preservationist” on this site have seem to lost control and are just randomly posting anything and everything…So I will “POST AROUND THEM” and try to give an answer to your question, which was a good one BTW.

Seriously, I can’t answer it…I have not given it that much thought. The last plan called for restoration with the sale of the south lot…I was thinking along those lines. You guys are sticking with RSC, so any real thought I put into an answer will get bashed by your group anyway, as history has proved. Sorry if this does not fully answer your question(s).

As for everybody else, it appears that certain people are posting under the influence…ignore them!

“POST AROUND THEM”

Deb, whoever is willing to restore it for that much money.

DuPagefiends

Just the restoration of the theatre.

DuPagefiends
DuPagefiends commented about DuPage Theater on Oct 18, 2005 at 2:21 pm

I can’t answer that. Let them cross that bridge if it ever comes.

Deb,

That is exactly what I did..threw that number ($10 million) out there. I know that right now it stands at $8.5 million, but with every passing month cost will increase. Even you can agree with that.

Did not mean to antagonize. Although a $10 million check would solve a lot of problems :)

DuPagefiends
DuPagefiends commented about DuPage Theater on Oct 18, 2005 at 10:17 am

I believe that if somebody came forward witha $10 million dollar check and there was little or no risk to the Village or the taxpayers, they would reconsider.

Of course with all the bashing that was done, I may be wrong.

ooops I meant “preservationist” NOT “preservations.”

I might as well include “anti-preservationists” in case any do exist :)

Well spoken True class…My sentiments exactly.

It seems like the preservations, friends, anti-RSC residents, anti-theatre people (whoever they are?), and innocent bystanders all agree: Duper you need to stop your posting here, unless you have something good to contribute

Deb & duper,

Fair enough. Please note that I can only speak for myself.

Now all we need to do is get devitt to take it down a notch.

duper,

Fair enough. While we are at it, please refrain from calling me an “anti-preservationist”

DuPagefiends
DuPagefiends commented about DuPage Theater on Oct 17, 2005 at 10:21 am

duper stuper babbles:

“Challenge (sic) sounds like a "BITTER MAN” who has a personal grudge against Preservationist Jim Devitt."

No reason for you being an antagonist duper…Devitt is the bitter guy…he is bitter he lost the election. I have no grudges and you don’t even know me.

I agree with Deb and Marisa let’s stop the negative postings. I will stop unless I get bashed some more.

Deb Dynako wrote this to LD4:

“Especially with your comment about Mr. Carroll and Mr. Devitt. That was by far the worst thing I’ve seen written anywhere. I’m sure even Challenger and Marissa would agree with me on that one.”

I will agree with Ms. Dynako on the Carroll comment, but don’t ask me to defend devitt. He single-handedly started all the sniping on the original websites' (www.dupagetheatre.com) message board under his own name, and I have them all saved to prove it. He deserves all the abuse he gets.

LD4 don’t stoop down to their level.

First of all it seems that we have exposed Dude for the fraud that he is.

Second, has anybody noticed that Duper could just cat & paste all his mindless ramblings. We get your point…that you make no sense.

You are sounding like petey k.
