When the Welsh Corne family took over the Katoomba circuit from Camphin in early 1951 they promptly reinstated Wednesday night showings at Leura, a policy they tried to maintain for some years. (The extra day had been tried from November 1945, but discontinued in April 1946 – with Saturday matinees also dropped later that year). With a circuit having three screens operational in Katoomba, and Blackheath open on most nights, the Leura Liberty was always the struggling runt of the litter.
