A drive-in movie screen that hasn’t been used for a decade has provided the perfect canvas for artist James Giddy in WA’s Wheatbelt. James Giddy has painted hundreds of artworks around Australia His latest is an old drive-in screen in WA’s Wheatbelt. He hopes the works create extra interest for people visiting rural Western Australia It’s his latest of about 50 major works across the state and hundreds nationally.

The project was funded as part of Regional Arts Resilience Grants to assist regional artists, and communities during the immediate period of disruption caused by COVID-19. Giddy said he worked with the shire to create a design that was relevant to the area and the theme of community, conversation and togetherness. It features pink and grey galahs sitting on blue tree branches. The Mukinbudin drive-in movie screen is visible from the main road.
