Contact The Cinema Preservation Group at 828.270.7604. They will be able to identify some information about the theatre and help you out.

I am sure they are going to harness the D-Cinema Projectors in the back of the auditoriums and pull all the control cable to the concession area. It saves a boat load on construction costs. Plus D-Cinema Machines are quiet and stable enough that the audience will not notice them.

historiccinemas commented about Can you ID this theater? on Sep 22, 2010 at 9:15 am

If it’s just that picture and nothing else, then it’s gonna be really hard to ID it. Especially that many theatres are often duplicated and only small artifacts will be able to distinguish the differences. I cannot quite see the small details of the theatre. However it looks much like the Byrd in Richmond VA.

At the same token it could be 20 other theatres as well.

historiccinemas commented about Cecil Whitmire - Led restoration of the Alabama Theatre passes on on Aug 24, 2010 at 9:01 am

Cecil is a great man. He, in my opinion, revolutionized the cinema restoration industry by proving a theatre can be restored with blood, sweat and tears without the crutch of state or federal funding. Rest in Peace. You have taught us well.

You can hire The Cinema Preservation Group in Asheville NC to do a feasibility study on your project to make 100% certain that the theatre is feasible, they just finished a study in Kingsport TN.

The number is 800-353-8417 and their site is www.sehcpg.org

We could deliver to the UK if you are willing to pay for an ocean freight charge, i would imagine that would be several thousand tops.

historiccinemas commented about Power projector heads questions on Jul 1, 2009 at 7:04 am

Depends largely on what they are… 35MM projectors are not fairing too well in terms of value because of digital and the economy.

If they are vintage (I.E earlier than 1955 or 1960) then your probably going to have to give them away.

Hi JohnH1954 I want wondering if your brother still had those speakers from the drive in. I am interested in knowing what kind he got. Also, Junkinben do you have an update on who the new owners are or how to get in touch with them?

The owner of the property did not renew Landmark’s lease on the property. Something else will be moving into the building. The building is empty after landmark sold equipment.
