This is VIP #1 as part of the 1998 expansion. These were the first Cineplex VIP Cinemas in Canada and inspiration for later Cineplex VIP theaters which were significantly larger auditoriums along with expanded lounge offerings.

Despite this, these VIP rooms have not changed much since opening. A major difference in the Varsity VIP rooms is that there is no reserved seating whereas the newer builds are fully reserved and you can purchase food and drink through the Cineplex app. A waiter is in attendance before every screening and you can order that way.

All four VIP rooms are pretty much exactly the same, and sometime in the mid 2000s the curtains and original masked screens were removed and “larger” screens were installed filling most of the front area. Despite all of this, I really have enjoyed watching screenings in here and it’s a real unique way to see a movie.
