Apparently the place is pure profit since Syuffy aka Century owns the land outright. It was announced recently that after years of rumors the Sac-6 will definately close at the end of this summer, although the completion date for the new 20 screen indoor theater has not been set.
It would be nice if they kept just one screen for nostalgia, there is more than enough room on the property for the new theater and more.
The Tower is owned by the son of the man who built it, and he does not want to sell it. The building will not be demolished, it is the viability of the theatre operation that is in question.
