Saw countless films here in the late 60s, early 70s. It was repertory theater - two new films every week (maybe more often than that). My girlfriend knew the projectionist. I don’t recall ever paying for a ticket. Saw my first Fellini, Godard, Bergman, Antonioni films here. I learned to love cinema at the Ken theater. Thank you, Shiela.

My very short career as a new wave rock musician both began and ended here in the mid-80s. Fond memories of playing here. Great venue for film, music and performance art.

Loved to catch a film here and then get the five spice chicken over rice downstairs on a Saturday afternoon. Saw so many great films here. Miss it.

I worked downtown at Flax Art materials on Sutter in the 70s. Liked to catch a film here via thr walk home (Tenderloin) from work. This where I first saw DOA. “I’m gonna give it to you in the belly, Bigalow! You’re gonna like it in the Belly!”. A little seedy up there - perfect for Film Noir. Sorely miss it.
