I need to get down to Bloustein (a school in the large red building next to the State Theatre) more often. Didn’t know they had concerts on Wednesdays in September. The State Theatre has mainly been doing business as a live theater lately with one-or-two-showing shows: a play one week, another play the next week, perhaps a celebrity or two the week after, and maybe Indian dance to boot the week after. It also fills up the street in front of Bloustein on some evenings.

My bad, it IS on the list. Nevermind.

I’m surprised the State Theater isn’t on the Cinema Treasures list. That oughta be rectified.

the food concession there is mediocre, but the theater has spectacular views of Ground Zero from its escalator areas.

I’m surprised that people have a hard time finding this theater. It’s the Ground Zero movie theater, after all, and can be found easily by looking across West Street from the northwest corner of the WTC site. Getting there should be easy, too: make a left from the WTC PATH station’s entrance, make another left, walk across the northern edge of ground zero, and cross West St. (aka the West Side Highway, although it’s now more of a boulevard than a highway). Theater is within a hotel building and is on your right.

I suspect that the Megamovies theater retained at least one or two of the Brunswick Square Twin’s bathrooms (yeah, the loos look that dated). I’ve been to both the original theater and its successor (and prefer its successor, frankly speaking, as it has a Nathan’s Famous and more comfortable seating). I’m trying to recall if the space that the theater expanded into included a McRory’s (some thrift store like a K-Mart or Target) or whether it was some other space.
