•
This is a photograph taken of the original 2300 seat auditorium of the Regent during an Interval (Intermission) with advertising slides on the masked CinemaScope screen, brought to the front of the large fly-tower stage. The original curved cornered ‘floating’ 1.33:1 screen was set further back in front of black curtains with any light spill falling out of focus on them so that the picture really stood out. It could be flown for stage performances, while a smaller gold framed screen was lowered in front of the main act drop curtain for showing slides. The proscenium arch loomed high overhead when seen from the lounge seats and could (with the cove lighting elsewhere) go through a myriad of pleasing colour changes.
