I was manager of the Skyland Drive-In for several years in the early 70’s. It was a great family style drive-in and yes, had a playground down front of the big screen, with the office in the building under the screen.
I was manager of the Westgate Theatres starting in 1977, replacing Mr. Ben Smart who was retiring. The theatre was owned then by ABC theatres. I never forget my moving date, transfered the day Elvis died and was there a few years before being transfered back to the theatres in Greenville, SC. With Dorman Hight Scholl being next door we had no shortage of good help and made many friends. I ended up making Spartanburg my home for good.
