Great atmospheric front from FBO Pictures Corporation’s 1926 film, “The Gorilla Hunt.” After missing exhibition in major markets, Joseph Kennedy saw his studio’s film gain traction in Iowa and Kansas so the film was relaunched in 1927. The Broadway Palace picked up the film but with much attention in Vitaphone talkies, the theater gins up the film saying you can hear the animals. As the film was a silent, the sounds were added on the fly. Great showmanship albeit fairly false advertising from the Palace. (BTW: Mr. Kennedy though so little of the film that he reportedly saw the first five minutes of the film and never watched another minute walking out of the screening.)
