June 23, 1952 - The Chain of Rocks Bridge was the first of eight stops on a cross-country caravan promoting the movie “The Will Rogers Story” and dedicating Route 66 as the Will Rogers Highway. The group also made a stop at the Kirkwood Theater that day. The caravan dedicated markers honoring Will at the state lines along the route and at Palisades Park in Santa Monica.
