The Mocardy Drive-in Wongan Hills was officially opened in January 1959 trading as Rural Districts Pictures, with a capacity of 150 cars and a screening policy of five nights. This consisted of three program changes a week. A special area was set aside in the style of a traditional picture garden for 40 deck chairs.
