Just legible enough to suggest what the sign looked like, this microfilm-stomped photo appeared in the Aug. 21, 1958 issue of the Clovis News-Journal, so it’s likely to be in the public domain. The original caption:
(News-Journal Staff Photo) Drive-In to open - Loyd Franklin of Clovis stands on the catwalk in front of the marquee of his new drive-in theater which will open Friday night. The Comet, located at 3030 West 7th St., is the third drive-in to be operated by Franklin and his partner, W. O. Bearden, and features a new parking policy that will allow 546 cars on the lot.
