The ornate columns, painted to look like carved wood, and the faux fireplace which housed an electric fire with glowing, flickering ‘coals’ to warm patrons coming into the theatre out of a brisk wind off the sea a couple of hundred metres away may have been fake, but they lend this space an air of luxury nevertheless.
